Pashto & Underrepresented Language Models

Grey Software has awarded a $600 USD research grant over four months to Junaid Ahmad, who is building language models and speech recognition tools for Pashto and other underrepresented languages in Pakistan. This builds on earlier support: two months of Colab Pro and a month of Hugging Face Pro.

This is the kind of work that doesn't get funded by large institutions. Too specific, too local, too far from the centres of capital. That's exactly why it belongs here.
